In busy European cities like Milan, pickpocketing activity is very high and the main victims are tourists and people from abroad who are visiting. It would be ideal to have a product that keeps personal belongings safe that is different from the commercial options (anti-theft backpack).

Milano ROVER  proposes a shoulder bag that provides security to the user and at the same time has an attractive and functional aesthetic that fits the user's lifestyle. The bag would not only have an aesthetic and safe configuration for the user, but its visual and graphic language would also be functional in itself (mobility, metro network, lexicon).

What's In My Bag?

The bag, made of Tyvek and rope, has a clean, modern and simple design. It has a main zipper to hold documents up to A5 size, and two internal compartments to hold subway tickets and business cards.

The design on the front of the bag has simple step-by-step instructions on how to buy a metro ticket, as well as a clear graphic showing what a metro ATM machine looks like. The back includes a map of the Milan metro, with the different lines in color and their main stations.

Taking inspiration from brands such as Freitag and Rains, many explorations were made on how the bag would be configured, until the final design was reached.

BASE Milano

The project was exhibited during the Milan design week (2024) together with other projects that were part of the “Dreams of Lightness” collection, curated by my teacher Miguel Arjona.

This series proposed a different vision about the difficulties and challenges of being a foreign exhibitor and taking pieces to international fairs such as BASE. That is why the exhibition was designed in such a way that all the pieces would fit in a large travel suitcase.

It is worth mentioning that, as well as my bag, the rest of the products used Tyvek as the main material.
