Momento is a tea set produced in aluminum with details in tzalam wood and marble. The pieces that make up the set are four cups, a teapot, a tea container and a tray. Momento invites us to reconnect with our loved ones and recover relationships that have been disregarded. All this through gathering, sharing quality time.

The set is part of the “Revoluciones” collection, a project in which designers joined forces with masters of different urban crafts to create from scratch several utilitarian and decorative pieces for the home, using the ancient metal spinning technique.

Handmade Beauty

Momento is more than a tea set; it seeks to promote interaction and reconnection with loved ones through this beverage. Its artisanal and handmade elaboration makes it a unique piece that is also the materialization of the effort of many people, since the participation of artisans, workshop owners and designers was vital for the project.

Each team collaborated with different workshops in Mexico City and the State of Mexico, conducting field research on the process, learning through practical experiences and establishing connections not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level.

From the exploration and familiarization of the rejected, the collection of decorative and functional accessories for the home was designed, using copper, brass and aluminum. The project aims to investigate the origins and evolution of this technique, as well as its relevance in the material culture of our country. After becoming familiar with the different workshops, each object was designed taking into account the expertise of the master in order to innovate the process.

All of these objects explore uses, shapes and scales that the teachers had not done before. Through a collaborative process, they were able to create objects that also represented a challenge for them, and above all a learning experience for everyone.
